Avon Beauty has a rich and empowering history that not many people are aware of!

34 years before women in the U.S earned the right to vote, Avon Beauty founder, David McConnell was a travelling book salesperson. He designed his way to success and fame by giving perfume samples to his female customers. How cool is that, and how ahead of time in terms of marketing! He realised if he combined the free perfume samples with his books and recruit them as sales representatives the personal approach would work!  From a relatively small office in NYC he mixed the companies first fragrance himself.

He begun empowering women around the globe offering them the chance to join him, doing what he did. But bigger.

And thats just what he did:

• 95 Years before the first woman was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court …

• 77 Years before the first woman traveled into space …
• 76 Years before the first woman took the reins of a Fortune 500 company …

• 34 Years before women in the U.S. had the right to vote …

• 17 Years before the first woman won the Nobel Prize …

• 100 years before I was born

• 133 years before I joined Avon as a representative to empower myself and my family
• 133.5 years before my fiancé joined to support my business and continue his.

• NOW- at 34 Im a successful sales leader with a team that are successful and happy too, as customers saving money with their discount or as representatives starting their journey.

Avon has been empowering women for over 130 years…

And Enter Honest Beauty.

Im claiming full imaginative rights to EVERYTHING! (not really)

Let me quickly explain.

I met my fiancé after being childhood sweethearts, we unfortunately were split up in middle school when he moved back to Norfolk. 21 years later and he arrives back in my home Town of Milton Keynes. Three years later, in June 2020, (now), we have plans to get married, and we haven’t been separated since.

Within three years we had built our own mini empire with myself being integrated into my full time career, working in strategic marketing overseas in my own little social media bubble.

Building Honest Beauty became a passion as well as a business. Yes. A business, because that is what Avon is. A wonderful network of people promoting Avon products for their value for money and the quality of the product itself. As one of the biggest cosmetics companies on the planet, Avon Beauty is the industry and the beauty industry is Avon.

AND NOW

So now you know how I met my fiancé, what you don’t know is, among a few of his talents in design, the one that makes me all, weak at the knees are his websites.

When we were going through the design process for Boutique Beauty, a lot of the aesthetics were, as normal with the client designer process lead by the client and edited by the designer, but I’m no ordinary client., I’m also a designer! This can make things very difficult, however me and Phil are like peas and carrots…we go together so well when it comes to design and our relationship, that what you get is an explosion of design, fun, originality and well, me, which happens to be what he is about too, I mean a connection is a connection, and when it works it works. All in all the website was a collaborative process of imagination and what people want.

And thats where I always slip up and say BOOTIQUE  BOOTY, its the Norfolk Broad coming out in me!

The Concept

Pick a box fitting what you want, knowing that every item is full sized and the content in the box will be worth more than what you pay. With a selection of boxes to fit nearly every situation you cant go wrong.

Why did I decide to do this? I was seeing them adverts come up on FB, you know the ones, saying about a box of make up delivered to your door. The funny thing was, I was doing this already but only to those that lived near me. I looked at some of the boxes and the products were just, well, sub par. They were tiny,  and in most cases you only got four products! Clearly something was not right and I was horrified with the pretence you got when you see the boxes online to what you get through the door, especially the cost!

One of my biggest gripes with things are honesty and transparency, I hate people being ripped off… luckily I also believe that if you’re in a position to effect change regardless how small then you should do what you can. I couldn’t be who I was if I could effect change but didn’t, in my eyes that isn’t the mark of the person I want to be.
